National Chocolate Cake Day!

So apparently today is national chocolate cake day and someone on my Facebook page reminded me of it…so of course I needed to make some chocolate cake for my boys…and yes I made it in the Instant Pot.



I had no idea many people would want the recipe because I though…eh its just chocolate cake and just converted it into the Instant Pot…here it is! Enjoy!


Before you start making this cake please make sure you have 2 pans because the batter is a lot!


Instant Pot chocolate cake

Celebrate chocolate cake day (like I am) or any celebration with this yummy cake!

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
Whipped Frosting
  • 2 lbs powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  1. Mix water, eggs, butter, sour cream, and vanilla and whisk until frothy

  2. Mix the rest of the ingredients together in a separate bowl and then add into the egg mixture but don't over mix

  3. Pour into 2 7" push pans with round parchments on bottom...I made them one at a time

  4. Put trivet, 1 cup of water, foil sling, then pan...cover pan loosely with foil

  5. Close lid, turn valve to seal and manual 40 minutes with NPR

  6. While your cake is cooking mix together frosting ingredients for about 3 minutes
